Summary: The Pediatric Integrated Behavioral Health Consultant provides assessment/diagnosis, crisis intervention, risk assessment, and short-term therapy for primary care patients. The BHC collaborates closely with the Physicians, their medical team, and external referral resources to ensure that patients receive the appropriate level of behavioral health care. The BHC navigates patients and families through the behavioral health landscape to improve clinical outcomes and mitigate patient cost. Coverage includes a combination of both in the moment responses to Physician and patient needs, telephonic/virtual consultation, as well as scheduled patients. The BHC provides staff training around population specific behavioral health needs within an integrated practice framework. The BHC must be highly organized and energetic with great attention to detail, adaptable to frequent change, and able to work autonomously in clinical decision making. 

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Knowledge of community resources and agencies that serve the children and families
  • Advanced interpersonal skills to interact effectively with practice staff, to develop and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families, and to establish relationships with community providers
  • Must be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment  
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team with a high degree of communication
  • Experience and comfort with use of standardized behavioral measures as a tool in clinical decision making
  • Experience with brief intervention models including Solutions-Focused, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Knowledge and experience treating commonly recurring pediatric behavioral health concerns including Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Substance Use, and Behavioral Issues
  • Basic knowledge of psychopharmacology/SSRI’s
  • Experience with integrated behavioral-medical models preferred but not required Education/Licensure Requirements: 
  • Masters/Ph.D/Psy.D from an accredited program 
  • Requires independent licensure- LICSW, Ph.D/Psy.D, LMHC 
  • 2+ years of experience
