The Children’s Safety Program:

The Children’s Safety Program’s (CSP) mission is to use clinical training to provide holistic, family-focused, and collaborative support for the most vulnerable members of our community impacted by the unique trauma of domestic violence.  Our clinicians deliver individual and family therapy, as well as educational and therapeutic groups for children, adolescents and adults. The CSP operates as part of the multidisciplinary Survivor Services team. Through education, consultation, coalition work, and training, the clinicians on the Children’s Safety Program are dedicated to providing equitable and trauma-informed care to child survivors.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

This Clinician is a collaborative and flexible team member who provides individual, family, and group therapy to child and adult survivors of domestic violence. Other responsibilities include assessment, advocacy, crisis intervention, community engagement, specialized consultation, and safety planning. Every member of the survivor services team takes accountability for addressing the urgent needs of survivors in our communities.

Major Duties:

  • Utilize survivor-led, trauma-informed practices to provide services to survivors of domestic violence.
  • Deliver individual, family, and group therapy to child and adult survivors of domestic violence.
  • Provide domestic violence survivors with advocacy services, including emotional support, education, crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, systems navigation, and resource referrals.
  • Complete data entry and maintain thorough clinical records in a timely manner. This includes assessments, treatment plans, and clinical notes.
  • Participate in various team meetings, training opportunities, and supervisions.
  • Management of agency clinical referral program including maintaining relationships with private practice therapists, mental health agencies, and other community collaborators.
  • Cultivate deep community engagement through coalition work, building relationships with stakeholders, and representing The Center at events.
  • All staff are expected to represent the Center at least two community engagement events per year.
  • Stay abreast of local and national issues in the domestic violence and mental health field.
  • Support department and agency efforts to improve service delivery and agency culture by participating in working groups and helping to develop effective tools and systems.
  • Providing occasional backup for JGCC’s 24-hour hotline.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required:

 

  • 3-5 years lived or professional experience in communities providing services to survivors of trauma.
  • Specialized training in counseling, domestic violence, trauma, child welfare, and/or crisis intervention.
  • General knowledge of trauma-informed approaches is required. Training in evidence-based practices such as TF-CBT, CPP, or ARC is preferred.
  • A commitment to ending violence and promoting social change is a must.
  • Understand and celebrate gender diversity and gender/racial/Queer justice.
  • Must have cultural awareness, experience in working with diverse populations is a plus, and a passion for working to bring about social justice and change.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to positively contribute to the growth and development of our mission and values.
  • Individuals with lived experience and/or from marginalized communities are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Professional use of self, cultural humility, and thoughtful clinical boundaries.

  • Bilingual English Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Word

Education Required:

  • Master’s in social work, counseling, or related field. License-eligibility required; current independent state licensure in either social work or mental health counseling preferred. 

Salary at the higher end of the range would be for someone who is already licensed and has experience.   The Center also compensates for bilingual skillset.
